Peter Krause

Peter Krause (b. August 12, 1965) is an American actor born in Alexandria, Minnesota. He is best known for his role as Nate Fisher on the HBO drama, Six Feet Under.

Krause began acting while in high school where he was also a skilled athlete notably in track and field. Following high school, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where he began as a pre med but ultimately graduated with a BA in English literature. He moved to New York to study acting at the Tisch School of Arts at New York University where he earned an MFA . He appeared on stage in Macbeth, Uncle Vanya, and Arms and the Man.

Shortly after his graduation, Krause made his television debut on Carol & Company. He made his movie debut three years early in a small role in Blood Harvest. Early roles include guest appearances on Seinfeld, Ellen and 3rd Rock From the Sun and recurring roles on Beverly Hills, 90210, Cybill and Part of Five. From 1998 to 2000, Krause played Casey McCall on the sitcom Sports Night. His next major role was playing Nate Fisher in Six Feet Under.

Film roles include Lovelife, My Engagement, The Truman Show, Melting Pot, We Don't Live Here Anymore, and Six Feet Under. In 2006, Krause took on his first significant genre role in the Sci Fi Channel miniseries The Lost Room playing Joe Miller, a detective who loses his daughter to a mysterious room.

Awards

Krause has been twice nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe his role on Six Feet Under. He won two SAG awards as a part of the ensemble.
