Pellucidar book series

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

The Pellucidar book series, by Edgar Rice Burroughs, takes place inside a Hollow Earth populated by dinosaurs and a complex mix of humans and humanoids.

Natural access from the outer world is possible through an opening at the North Pole. Other means of entry, including a burrowing vehicle (an "iron mole") have been used.

The Books

  • Tarzan at the Earth's Core was first serialized in 1929 (immediately following Tanar), and first published in book form in 1930. Tarzan leads a rescue mission to Pellucidar, flying through the polar opening in an airship in this crossover adventure.
  • Back to the Stone Age was first serialized in 1937, and first published in book form that same year. The adventures of Von Horst in Pellucidar.
  • Land of Terror was first published in book form in 1944. More adventures of David Innes, as he goes from one peril to the next.
  • Elements of what would be published as Savage Pellucidar were first published in 1942. They were first published in book form in 1963. The book has four sections, the first again featuring David Innes.
