Paul McGillion

Paul McGillion (b. January 5, 1969) is a Scottish-born Canadian actor with an extensive resume. He's currently known in the role of Dr. Carson Beckett on the series Stargate Atlantis. He was born in Paisley, Scotland and emigrated with his family at age 2 to Canada. He is the sixth of seven children. His family returned to Scotland for three years when Paul was 11 but eventually returned to Canada.

Paul has guest starred on several series including Sliders, The X-Files First Wave Smallville and The Sentinel. He also had a small role as young Ernest Littlefield on Stargate SG-1. His film roles include Saving Grace, Dangerous Attraction, Replicant and the TV Movies Nightscream and Engaged to Kill. In 2006 he completed the film A Dog's Breakfast written by Atlantis costar David Hewlett and costarring Rachel Luttrell and Christopher Judge.

In addition to his film and TV work, Paul has also performed on stage in the plays The Foreigners, Piano, Savage in Limbo, and El Salvador. He also produced the film See Grace Fly and was nominated for a Leo Award alongside his costars for best Feature Length Drama. He has also been nominated for a Leo award in the role of Carson Beckett for the Stargate Atlantis episode "Poisoning the Well"
