Paul Blackthorne (b.March 5, 1969) is a British actor born in Wellington, Shropshire, England. He began his career appearing in TV commercials becoming memorable as the Grim Reaper in commercials for Virgin Atlantic.
Early roles inclued Romeo Thinks Again and recurring roles in Peak Practice and Holby City. He has also had recurring roles on ER as Dr. Jeremy Lawson and the hit FOX series 24 as Stephen Saunders. In 2001, he appeared in the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan as Captain Andrew Russell. He spent several months learning Hindi for the role. Blackthorne used his photography talents to help assist victims of an earthquake that occurred shortly after filming wrapped on Lagaan. The photographs were displayed at a showing in London.
Blackthorne guest-starred on the series Medium and has also appeared on the HBO series Deadwood. In 2007, he is slated to appear as Harry Dresden on the Sci Fi Channel original series The Dresden Files .
