Patrick Wayne Swayze (b. August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas) is an American actor best known for his roles in the films Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Swayze studied dance in his youth with mother, Patsy, a choreographer. He first began performing as a dancer in Disney on Parade and took a turn on Broadway in Grease. Swayze made his film debut in the 1979 film, Skatetown, U.S.A. and followed up with several film appearances in Uncommon Valor, Red Dawn and Youngblood. His breakout role was Dirty Dancing in which he played dance instructor Johnny Castle opposite Jennifer Grey. A few years later, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning Ghost alongside Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. Other notable roles include Point Break with Keanu Reeves, Three Wishes, Green Dragon with Forest Whitaker, Donnie Darko, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Dragon Sword, King Solomon's Mines, Christmas in Wonderland and upcoming Powder Blue with Jessica Biel.
