Parthenon is one of the heroes from Season 2 of Who Wants to Be a Superhero? In real life, Parthenon is really Dan Williams, who originally comes from Schererville, IN, but who now resides in sunny Orlando, FL.
Dan is the head of the Multimedia department of the International Academey of Design and Technology - Orlando campus.
Originally Dan tried for out for season 1 of the show, but alas his tape did not make it in time. The good news is that they kept his audition tape and called him up for season 2!
Super Powers
Parthenon's powers all come from the Armaguard. The Armaguard is a device that holds the Allstone, which can harness the powers of the other Atlantean gems. The Armaguard can also turn into a “normal” bracelet by touching the Allstone once.
To activate a gem power, you would simply press the gem. The color and power would drain into the Allstone, which would then allow that power to be used. You can also mix together gemstones by pressing them at the same time to get a new power.
POWERS LIST
Allstone - This stone harnesses the powers of the other Atlantean gems. It also gives Flight, Invulnerability and Super Strength.
Current Atlantean Gems
Echo Emerald - An emerald that holds the power of a sonic blast!
Muse's Moonstone- This stone can cast illusions, but they can not be seen by cameras. So robots and high tech armor are immune.
Eye Of Apollo Diamond - This stone creates an impenetrable force shield. It can withstand any known blast, but it is also airtight. It must be dropped after a few minutes or you will run out of air.
This is the official full back-story of Parthenon
On an expedition to Greece, we meet Dan Williams, an archeologist who specializes in ancient languages. We also meet the rest of his party, which includes Victor Triumph. He is a semi-infamous treasure hunter who has a shady past. Somehow he was invited along on this mission, although no one remembers how. The excavation was going slowly. So far the team has found nothing but some old dishes, a few pieces of scrap metal, and some strange hieroglyphics on the walls. Dan was busy trying to translate them, while everyone else continued their day-to-day activities.
Late one night while everyone in the camp slept, a slight tremor shook the earth. Dan was awakened by the noise and got dressed to see what was going on. He stood alone at the top of the fissure, which opened to the ruins below. Everything was quiet. No one else in camp seemed to notice the tremors. Instead of heading back to bed, Dan found himself making his way down the makeshift ladder to the ruins. While doing a quick check of the caverns, he discovered an opening that was not there before; barely big enough for someone to fit through. He could feel a slight wind emanating from the door that means there was something behind it! Dan worked his way into the opening and found himself in a secret room. Taking out his flashlight, he began to study his new surroundings. All around the room were the same type of hieroglyphics that he had been studying. Taking his camera out of his satchel he began to photograph his new discovery. A larger sample of work would surely help him in his translation. Working his way around the room, he came to an indentation in the wall. Obviously a panel of rock had fallen with the power of the tremor. Before Dan could examine it further, he was startled by a shadowy figure that entered the room. Dan spun his flashlight around and there in the beam was Victor. With mock applause he congratulated Dan on finding the secret chamber. Victor told him that this room is what he was searching for all along. He walked right past Dan and dug around in the indentation in the cavern wall. He pulled out a silver bracelet with a large gem on it top. The gem shone with a light from within. He also retrieved two gemstones from the hole, one brilliant brown, the other a stunning yellowish white. Victor then proceeded to tell the story of this chamber and its contents to an awestruck Dan.
Many centuries ago in the city of Atlantis, a great battle was waged between the Atlanteans and their enemies. The Atlantean king was forced to make a great sacrifice for his kingdom. He was the keeper of the Allstone, a mystic stone that contained all of the power of Atlantis. However by itself the stone could do nothing to help save their kingdom. The king called for his two sons and the royal blacksmith to come to his side. He instructed the blacksmith to sever the Allstone into two equal halves and mount them to a pair of gauntlets that could be used as weapons to defend their land. Each son was to get one gauntlet and lead his army to victory. When the blacksmith struck the Allstone it broke into two pieces main pieces and some smaller fragments as well. Each small fragment became a new gemstone and took on a new color and shape. They also took a portion of the Allstone's power as well. To correct this error, the blacksmith created the gauntlets to hold the Allstone and all of the gemstones as well. They acted as a channel for the power of to flow into whoever wielded it. They were named the Armaguards! Each prince of Atlantis got an Armaguard to help defend the kingdom. They were victorious and Atlantis was safe. Soon the younger prince grew jealous of his brother, who was next in line for the crown. He concocted a plan to steal his Armaguard, for without both of them surely he could not lead. He was discovered and a mighty battle ensued. The fallout of the battle ravaged the city and eventually led to its destruction. As he watched Atlantis sink into the ocean, the prince knew what he had to do. The Armaguards were too powerful to be kept. He hid them away in a secret temple never to be seen again.
While Victor was telling Dan the story, he had slipped the silver bracelet on. He touched the Allstone and the bracelet began to morph and grow all the way up his arm. Dan just stood in awe as Victor placed the two gemstones onto the gauntlet. Victor slowly walked to the doorway and said "Too bad both bracelets weren't here. I guess I will just have to keep looking." Once he was in the doorway, Victor pressed the brown gem. The color drained out of it and the center stone began to glow with a darkened hue, and the room began to shake. A falling rock struck Dan and he was knocked out cold.
Dan awoke in the darkened chamber. The falling rocks had covered the entrance to the room. He was trapped! After a brief bit of panicking, he began to examine his surroundings. After some time he saw one symbol that he managed to translate from before. It stood for King. Dan then noticed that the panel was cracked, apparently from the avalanche. Through the crack he could see a faint glow. He struck the panel and it fell to the floor. Behind it were the other silver bracelet and 3 gemstones. Dan placed the bracelet on his wrist and pressed the Allstone. The bracelet morphed and became the second Armaguard. The three gems stones shined bright and were instantly attached to it as well. Now which gem to try. There was a diamond, a emerald, and a orange-yellow stone which he did not know. He chose the green emerald and gave it a press. The color and light drained for the emerald flowing through the paths on the gauntlet to the Allstone. He felt himself brimming with power. Placing his hands outward and pressing with his mind. He released a sonic shockwave that shattered the boulders in his path, but it also caused a chain reaction. The room started to collapse. Dan dashed for the exit and barely escaped before the room was destroyed. At last he was free!
Dan made it back to camp and searched all over for Victor who was nowhere to be found. Dawn was approaching and it was just about time for everyone in the camp to start waking up. Dan went back to his tent and studied the Armaguard for a while. He pressed the Allstone again and it reverted back to original bracelet form. The camp awoke to the destroyed ruins. An oxy-moron I know. The mission was called off and Victor was labeled a deserter. No one knew that he had tried to kill Dan mere hours before.
Dan went home and took all of his notes and his new bracelet back with him. It took him a month to finally decipher some of the walls from his digital pictures. They were filled with riddles and clues. They also confirmed some of Victor's story. The bracelet was indeed called the Armaguard and the three gemstones that he had found were the Echo Emerald, The Muse's Moonstone, and the diamond was The Eye of Apollo. Dan had also spent that month testing his new powers. The Allstone gave him enhanced strength and a measure of invulnerability. It also allowed him to fly, not very fast but still he could soar through the clouds! The emerald gave him sonic powers, the moonstone was an illusion caster, and the diamond emitted a glowing protective barrier that nothing seemed to penetrate. He pressed two gems at once thinking it would give him both powers, this was not the case. The color mixed in the Allstone and it gave him a new power. He pressed the emerald and diamond and it gave him a sonic shield. A barrier of hard sound that he could reshape at will. To release a gems power, he simply touched the Allstone and the color would flow back into the gems. Once on accident, he double tapped the Allstone. It transformed his normal clothes into that of a warrior of Atlantis. He decided to call himself Parthenon and from that day on he would defend his city from anyone who sought to do evil.
He also continues to try and figure out the riddles of the hieroglyphics. He determined that drawings were in fact a map of sorts to the hiding places of the other Atlantean Gems. He chose to go in search of the other gems and on his first quest ran into a familiar, yet unpleasant face. Victor was alive and on the hunt for the gemstones as well! Now it was a race against each other for the gemstones. Victor took on the persona of Victorious and became the arch-nemesis of Parthenon and they are now locked in a battle for the secrets of Atlantis!
