Parker Posey (November 8, 1968 - ) is an American actor born in Baltimore, Maryland to Christopher and Lynda Posey. She has a twin brother, Christopher. Posey grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi after the family moved there following the birth of Parker and Christopher. Her mother was a chef and culinary instructor and her father, a Vietnam veteran ran a Chevrolet dealership.

Career

Posey attended the R.H. Watkins High School in Laurel, Mississippi and following graduation moved to New York to attend the State University of New York at Purchase. There she roomed with actress Sherry Stringfield best known for her work on ER. While in New York, she broke into television with a role on the soap opera As the World Turns playing Tess Shelby.

She later appeared in several small roles on TV and the big screen including Sleepless in Seattle, Tales of the City, and Coneheads. Her breakthrough role came in the 1993 film Dazed and Confused playing Darla Marks alongside several other upcoming actors Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich and Jason London and Ben Affleck . She followed up with several independent films including Clockwatchers, and Personal Velocity .
