Paramount Television was the television production and distribution arm of Paramount Pictures. The company originates with Desilu Productions, formed in 1951 by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz to produce the popular sitcom, I Love Lucy. DesiLu merged with Gulf+Western Industries in 1967 and Paramount Pictures and was incorporated as the television production division of Paramount. Paramount Television merged with CBS Productions on January 17, 2006 to become CBS Paramount Television. In the process UPN merged with The WB network to become CW Television Network.
