P2X-416 is a technologically advanced planet occupied by two opposing factions on two continents, the Bedrosians and the Optricans. The world was previously ruled over by the Goa'uld, Nefertum. The planet was likely lost to the goa'uld when the Stargate became buried due to geological upheaval. It was uncovered on Bedrosia during an archaeological dig searching for early settlement.

The Bedrosians deeply believe that they originated on Bedrosia and follow the Book of Nefertum which teaches that life was created on Bedrosia by Nefertum. The Optricans believe that life originated on another planet and was transported to their planet through a portal.

When SG-1 came through the stargate, they were imprisoned and believed to be Optrican Spies. The Bedrosians believed the Stargate was a trick by the Optricans.
