Orilla

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

On the series Stargate SG-1, Orilla is a planet in the Asgard home galaxy. The planet is rich in neutronium, an element key to Asgard technology.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

This is one of the reasons the Asgard chose the planet as the new home of their civilization following the loss of their homeworld in the war against the Replicators.

When the Replicators and their humanoid form leaders escaped the time dilation field on Halla, they headed for Orilla. The Replicator was destroyed by Asgard ship Valhalla but numerous replicator blocks survived and began replicating on the planet. Orilla and the last of Asgard civilization was saved only by Ancient technology stored within the mind of Jack O'Neill. O'Neill was able to replicate a weapon capable of destroying the Replicators thus saving the planet.

The Asgard began rebuilding their civilization with the goal of saving themselves from the genetic degradation caused by their cloning process. Unfortunately, their last attempt to do so introduced a disease that assured the death of their civilization. They chose to pass on their Legacy to the Tau'ri before destroying themselves and Orilla to prevent any of their technology from falling into the wrong hands.
