Olaf Stapledon

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Olaf Stapledon (May 10, 1886 - September 6, 1950) was a British author.

An influential early writer of Sci Fi, he began his career with the non-fiction A Modern Theory of Ethics: A study of the Relations of Ethics and Psychology (published in 1929). He held a PhD in philosophy from the University of Liverpool.

The following year saw the publication of Last and First Men. It begins with our species (Homo sapiens), and continues through another seventeen species of humans. Ours is clearly shown as merely a beginning to a superior future.

Stapledon would write a direct sequel, and return to the genre throughout his life. He is credited with the introduction or furthering of several themes and ideas.
