On Stargate SG-1, The Odyssey is an Earth deep space battle cruiser, registry PB3865. It is the third over-all and second Daedalus Class battle-ready spaceship made on Earth and was based not on the design of the first Earth ship, Prometheus, but on it's immediate predecessor the Daedalus. All Earth ships have benefited significantly from the contributions of Asgard technology.

The ship was rushed into service, under the command of Colonel Paul Emerson, before completion in order to rescue SG-1 from P6G-452, where the team was being held captive by members of the Lucian Alliance. Following the destruction of the Prometheus, the Odyssey became Earth's main ship.
The Odyssey faced off against The Ori ships in the episode "Camelot," alongside Earth's latest ship, the Korolev. The Korolev was destroyed and the Odyssey barely survived the battle.
In the episode "Company of Thieves", the Odyssey was tricked into entering an ambush set up by members of the Lucian Alliance. The vessel was badly damaged and then captured by them. Colonel Emerson was killed for ordering Lt. Colonel Carter to not disable the vessel's homing device. The ship was later retaken by Vala Mal Doran and Daniel Jackson and then taken back to Earth for repairs.
In the SG-1 series finale, the Odyssey was invited to the new Asgard homeworld of Orilla, to receive major upgrades. The upgrades were a gift to Earth and the Asgard's final gift to humanity. In addition to upgraded weapons such as plasma beam technology, the Asgard upgraded the vessel's shields, hyperdrive and even gave it time dilation technology, and finally, the Asgard computer core, which contains all the knowledge of the Asgard and technology able to reorder matter allowing the ship to build almost anything given specifications. Once the upgrades were completed, the vessel's crew witnessed the end of the Asgard and the destruction of Orilla ("Unending"). The Asgard core gives off a unique energy signature that can be tracked by the Ori, which made the vessel vulnerable to attack. The vessel was momentarily destroyed in series finale but the time dilation technology and the genius of Samantha Carter allowed the vessel to alter time to prevent its fate.
The vessel faced danger again in Stargate: The Ark of Truth when it traveled to the Ori home galaxy and became overrun with Replicators and also faced off against Ori vessels. Fortunately, the success of SG-1 against the Ori, again saved the vessel from destruction and also saved the Asgard's legacy. After that success and The Odyssey's safe return to the Milky Way the plasma beam weapon upgrades have also been added to the Daedalus and Apollo.
