Number Three is a Cylon model portrayed by Lucy Lawless on the reimagined series Battlestar Galactica . She first appeared in the series as D'Anna Biers, a Colonial reporter for the Fleet News Service. Biers was interested mainly in the salacious and controversial. She boarded the Gideon to investigate the shooting deaths of four unarmed civilians by colonial marines during a riot following Saul Tigh's decision to declare martial law. Biers dubbed the situation the sensational title of Gideon Massacre.

Biers wanted to interview the crew of Galactica but met with roadblocks. President Roslin and Adama were eventually forced to deal with the political fallout of the Gideon Massacre when the colonial citizens grew increasingly critical and distrustful of the military. They invited Biers to Colonial One and offered her unlimited access to shoot a documentary that revealed the true lives of military personnel on Galactica. Biers took the opportunity to document candid moments of the Galactica crew and interviewed Anastasia Dualla, Kara Thrace, Felix Gaeta, Margaret Edmonson and Karl Agathon. Her attempts to interview Tigh were mainly unsuccessful.

Biers captured the fallout of Lieutenant Louanne Katraine's stims abuse, due in large part to the pressures of being a Viper pilot. She also discovered that a copy of the Cylon, Sharon was still alive on Galactica. Adama demanded that footage and Biers appeared to hand it over but kept the real footage for herself. Biers review of the documentary footage during editing led to the realization that Joe Palladino was responsible for death threats plaguing Tigh. She filmed Tigh talking the lieutenant out of killing himself and his wife.

The final documentary was viewed and approved by Roslin and Adama though Tigh thought the documentary cast the military in poor light. The documentary was broadcast to the fleet with the addition of a highly complementary monologue from Biers. It was in the review of the final documentary, complete with footage of a pregnant Sharon, that it was revealed that Biers was a Cylon. She viewed the documentary with the Cylon models Aaron Doral, Number Six and Number Eight illegally broadcast via Raiders that engaged Galactica.

Other Copies

Another Number Three was seen on Caprica. She aided Caprica Six and Sharon Valerii, "Boomer", in their resurrection. Though she praised the two as true heroes to the Cylons, Number Three was tasked with determining whether life among humans had corrupted Six and Boomer. Caprica proved her correct and killed her when she made an attempt to kill Samuel Anders.

Several Number Three copies were seen during the occupation on New Caprica. One began to have dreams about Sharon and her baby, Hera that caused her to question her faith. She visited a human Oracle who told her that Hera was still alive. Her beliefs were confirmed when she found the baby alive beside her dead adopted mother following the evacuation of the colonists from New Caprica ("Exodus, Part 2").

Three became increasingly involved with Baltar. She tortured him for information after discovering he lied about what he saw on board a virus-infected Cylon basestar. Their relationship turned romantic after he told her that he loved her. She then engaged in a sexual relationship with Baltar and Six.

Three continued to have visions that led to her ordering a Centurion to kill her several times so that she could experience what lies between life and death. Baltar discovered her plan to discover the face of the final five cylons. The two visited the ship's Hybrid and learned of a planet believed to have The Eye of Jupiter which would point the way to Earth. The planet was already visited by Galactica to collect algae and the base ship faced off against Galactica. Adama threatened to destroy the temple on the planet and his people with it if the Cylons refused to stand down.

The Cylons agreed to stand down but Three insisted on visiting the planet in a single ship, refusing to believe that Adama would go through with his plan over a single vessel. She defied her fellow Cylons, ended the three-sided relationship with Six, and went down to the planet with Baltar and Cavil. When the system's sun went supernova, the temple was bathed in light and she stepped into the light and experienced a vision of the final five. She did not survive the experience and died in Baltar's arms. She awakened on the resurrection ship but Cavil informed her that the decision had been made to box her entire line.
