Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

She was uncovered as a sleeper agent in the season 1 finale though the audience was made aware of her status as a Cylon prior to the revelation. Number eight is the Cylon model with the most compassion and empathy for humans and their situation, having lived among them believing she was also human. The model is the first to truly experience true love.

Sharon "Boomer" Valerii

See main article: Sharon Valerii

Sharon was planted in the Colonial Fleet as a sleeper agent unaware of her status as a Cylon two years before the Cylon attack on the colonies. She served as a raptor pilot, and became involved in a relationship with Chief Galen Tyrol. She came to suspect she might be a Cylon after incidents of sabotage on board Galactica during which she she seemed to have blacked out. Her suspicions were confirmed when she was confronted by several copies of herself on a Base star orbiting Kobol. Following that mission she shot Commander Adama twice in the chest but afterward was confused about what had happened. She was killed by Cally and resurrected on board a base ship. She settled on New Caprica and along the with Caprica Six organized a redirection of the Cylon's goal. Due in large part to their experience with humans, the two believed the two races could live together which led to the disastrous Cylon occupation of New Caprica. Following that experience, Boomer became increasingly cynical and threatened to kill the child of Sharon Agathon before she was killed by Caprica Six,

While her counterpart was a sleeper agent on Galactica, a Sharon copy on Cylon-occupied Caprica was tasked with taking on the identity of Boomer and seducing Karl "Helo" Agathon hoping to become pregnant with the first human-cylon child. Her mission was a success but she fell in love with Helo and helped him escape Caprica. Once on board Galactica, she was imprisoned. She helped Galactica several times and gave birth to a daughter, Hera. She and Helo were led to believe their daughter died shortly after her birth on the orders of Laura Roslin.

Sharon was eventually freed and reinstated as a Colonial officer and was pivotal in the rescue of the human population of New Caprica. She and Helo married and she took on the call-sign "Athena". She later discovered her daughter was alive, rescued from new Caprica by the Cylons. She managed to rescue her with the help of Caprica Six

Other Copies

Several other Number eight copies have been seen throughout the series. A Number eight copy was seen with several other Cylons rescuing Aaron Doral from the Ragnar Anchorage. Other copies have been seen in the rebirth chambers on Resurrection Ships, on Cylon-occupied Caprica and also on New Caprica.
