Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror) also known simply as Nosferatu is a 1922 German expressionist film directed by F. W. Murnau. Filmed in 1921 in Germany and Sweden on a small budget, the film was first released in Germany on March 4, 1922. Though Bram Stoker is uncredited, the film is mainly an adaptation of his Dracula though the names of the characters were changed. Bram Stoker's widow, Florence Stoker won a lawsuit against the makers of the film and attempted to have all copies of it destroyed. The film was by then too successful and copies were spread far and wide. It was later discovered that Dracula was never properly copyrighted in the US and therefore in the public domain.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
