Nicholas Brendon is an American actor best known for his role as Xander Harris on the TV Series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He was born on April 12, 1971 in Los Angeles, California three minutes after his identical twin Kelly Donovan. He attended Chatsworth high school where he became a starter on the baseball team. He was interested in pursuing a professional baseball career but turned his mind to other options when he hurt his arm a year after graduating high school. He went on to attend Pasadena City College.
Brendon suffered from a stuttering problem and turned to acting as a means of overcoming the issue. He guest starred on Married with Children and Dave's World and had roles in the films Children of the Corn III and Psycho Beach Party before his major break came when he landed the role of Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Brendon played Xander until the series ended in 2003. His twin brother starred alongside him in the episode "The Replacement" in which Xander had to deal with a strange double of himself.
He has lent his voice to the Buffy Video Games and continued to act after the series ended. He acted in the TV Movies Celeste in the City and Alien Fire. He also had a major role in the short lived series Kitchen Confidential. In 2006, he starred in Unholy and Relative Chaos.
Personal Life
Brendon has admitted to having problems with alcoholism and on April 25, 2004, at a Buffy fan convention in Cleveland, Ohio, he announced he'd undergone voluntary rehab.
Brendan was an honorary chairperson of the Stuttering Foundation of America's Stuttering Awareness Week in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
He married Tressa DiFiglia in September 2001. The couple has since filed for divorce.
