New Line Cinema

New Line Cinema is an American movie studio founded in 1967. Originally an independent studio, New Line is now owned by Time Warner and has divisions responsible for marketing,distribution and home videos. New Line continues to support independent film making via its division Picturehouse, previously known as Fine Line Features. New Line currently operates under the direction of CEOs Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne.

The company's most successful film release was The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. It was also responsible for the genre features Dark City and Pleasantville and has invested significant funds in bringing the Philip Pullman His Dark Materials novel series to the screen beginning with the 2007 film The Golden Compass.

New Line Cinema distributes films within the United States and contracts other studios for international distribution.
