Natalie Wood (b. Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko July 20, 1938 San Francisco, California - November 29, 1981) was an American actor of Russian parentage.
She became a major star at the age of 9 in the 1947 fantasy classic, Miracle on 34th Street. She went on to become a well-respected Hollywood star, being nominated for a best acting Academy Award three times. During her roughly 35 year career, she would return occasionally to genre work. Wood had one daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner with actor and husband Robert Wagner. Her daughter also became an actress. Wood drowned on a yachting trip in 1981.
