A Naquadah Generator is a power source invented by the Orbanians. In the episode "Learning Curve", Samantha Carter is taught about naquadah reactor technology by Merrin, an 11-year old Orbanian girl, of significant genius. As the name implies, the generator is powered by Naquadah.

Since Carter successfully replicated the device on her own, she has made significant improvements to the technology. The increased efficiency and power output has been of particular importance in Atlantis, where naquadah generators were used to power sections of the city in the absence of a ZPM. The reactors have also been used as a weapon. Once overloaded, it cannot be stopped and it becomes a powerful explosive device.

A Mark II Naqahdah Generator was used to power the Ancient Control Chair in Antarctica after the depletion of the ZPM. Before a ZPM could be found to power it, the Atlantis control chair was also powered by two Mark II generators. The Mark IIs operate at 600% of the output of the Mark I in a barely controlled reaction.
