Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts (b. September 28 , 1968) is an Australian actress born in Shoreham, England to Peter and Miv Watts. She lost her father when she was just seven-years-old and the family eventually settled in Australia when she was fourteen. She began taking acting lessons in her teens and auditioned for commercials. Her first role was a small part in the film For Love Alone.

Watts met best friend Nicole Kidman while auditioning for a bikini commercial. The two later appeared together in the 1991 film Flirting. Watts followed up with appearances on the hit soap Home and away and the films The Custodian, Gross Misconduct and Tank Girl. She followed up with two more genre roles in Bermuda Triangle and the horror film Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering and starred with James Earl Jones in Timepiece.

In 1997, she starred in the short-lived scifi series Sleepwalkers. It was quickly canceled and Watts moved on performing voice roles in Babe: Pig in the City and starring in The Christmas Wish with Neil Patrick Harris. After several forgettable roles in TV movies and films, like Strange Planet, Ellie Parker and Down, she landed a breakthrough role as Diane Selwyn in the acclaimed 2001 film Mulholland Dr.. She also achieved true box-office success with the horror film The Ring which made her a household name in the United States.

Watts won notable roles in The Outsider, Ned Kelly, and Le Divorce. Her role in the film 21 Grams alongside Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro earned her an Oscar nomination for best Actress. She later appeared in I Heart Huckabees with Jude Law and The Ring sequel The Ring Two. In 2005, she starred in Peter Jackson's King Kong remake, taking on the role of Ann Darrow. The film was huge success. She followed up with The Painted Veil a film based on the W. Somerset Maugham novel.

Watt's upcoming roles include Eastern Promises, Funny Games, Need and the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 thriller, The Birds.
