Nancy Kilpatrick

Nancy Kilpatrick (b. 1946) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and currently resides in Montréal, Québec, where she lives with her black cat Bella and travels the world in search of cemeteries, ossuaries, mummies and Danse Macabre artwork. Her generational "Power of the Blood World" vampire series comprises Near Death, Child of the Night, Reborn, Bloodlover and Transformation, while her other novels include As One Dead, Dracul, Eternal City (with Michael Kilpatrick), Mercedez: Day of the Dead, Jason X: Planet of the Beast and Jason X: To the Third Power. A winner of Canada’s Arthur Ellis Award for her story “Mantrap”, Kilpatrick’s short fiction has been collected in Sex and the Single Vampire, Endorphins, The Vampire Stories of Nancy Kilpatrick and Cold Comfort. As an editor, she has a number of anthologies to her credit, including Outsiders: Stories on the Edge of the Fantastical (with Nancy Holder) and Graven Images and In the Shadow of the Gargoyle (both with Thomas Roche). She is the author of the non-fiction book, The Goth Bible: A Compendium for the Darkly Inclined, and has scripted various issues of the Brainstorm Comics series VampErotica. Her play, Ghost Rails/Les Fantômes Déraillent, written with Benoit Bisson, was staged at The Fringe Festival, Toronto, in 1996. Under the pseudonym "Amarantha Knight" she has written a number of explicit novels in "The Darker Passions" erotic series, including Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Carmilla, The Pit & the Pendulum and Curse of the Mummy, as well as editing the anthologies Love Bites, Flesh Fantastic, Sex Macabre, Seductive Spectres and Demon Sex.
