Nana Visitor <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>  Nana Visitor (b. July 26, 1957) is an American actress born Nana Tucker in New York City to choreographer, Robert Tucker and ballet dancer/teacher Nenette Charisse. She is best known in the role of Kira Nerys on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Nana began studying dance with her mother during childhood and began appearing on stage during her teen years. She was accepted to Princeton University but deferred admission and ultimately chose instead, to pursue acting professionally. CareerIn the late 70s and early eighties, Visitor began her career in television. Her first appearance was on the short-lived sitcom Ivan the Terrible. She made her film debut in the psychological thriller The Sentinel and later took on the role of Nancy Feldman on the soap Ryan's Hope she also appeared on the soap One Life to Live. She gained significant roles on stage in the 80s starring in Gypsy, and My One and Only. She took on the stage name of Nana Visitor, taken from a family name on her mother's side. In 1985, Visitor moved to Los Angeles after starring in a stage revival of 42nd Street. She made several guest appearances on TV series such as Hunter, Remington Steele, The Twilight Zone, Knight Rider, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Hotel, Highway to Heaven, The Colby's, MacGyver, Empty Nest, and Matlock. Visitor starred in the short-lived series working Girl and appeared in the TV Movies The Spirit, Meet the Munceys and A Father's Homecoming. In 1993, Visitor landed a role on the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine playing Kira Nerys, a Bajoran officer working alongside Capt. Benjamin Sisko (Avery brooks). She also lent her voice to the series' spin-off video games. Following the end of the series in 1999, Visitor had a recurring role on the series Dark Angel playing the villainous Dr. Elizabeth Renfro, or Madame X. She followed up with guest appearances on Frasier, Las Vegas, According to Jim and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She also appeared in the scifi thriller, They Are Among Us. Recent roles include the series Wildfire and the upcoming horror movie Babysitter Wanted. Personal LifeVisitor was married to dancer Nick Mancusi and the couple had one child a son Buster before divorcing in 1994. She became involved with DS9 costar Alexander Siddig and they married and had son Django El Tahir El Siddig. Her pregnancy was written into the series and her character also became pregnant. Siddig and Visitor divorced in 2001 and she is currently married to actor Matthew Rimmer.
