Moya is a Leviathan, a living Biomechanoid ship on the series Farscape and miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. Moya was born free but enslaved by the Peacekeepers for several years. She was freed after Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan, Ka D'Argo and Dominar Rygel XVI — also Peacekeeper prisoners — escaped custody and took over the ship. They succeed in removing her Control Collar freeing her to roam space and care for her new crew.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

Moya is guided by Pilot, a separate being fused to Moya in a symbiotic relationship. Pilot is Moya's voice and communicates between the Leviathan and her crew. Pilot is actually Moya's second. The Peacekeepers removed her first, killing him in the process and forced her bonding to her current pilot who they believed would be more easily manipulated to their will. Despite the unnatural bonding, Moya accepted her new pilot. When faced with the facts of what happened before his bonding, Pilot forcibly broke his bond with her and they later bonded naturally.

In the series' first season, Moya became pregnant after a Peacekeeper contraceptive seal was accidentally program. She birthed a young male Leviathan named Talyn by Aeryn Sun. She had difficulty bonding with her new offspring due to his unusual nature, having been engineered as a war ship by the Peacekeepers. Aeryn helped the two bond but they separated, much to Moya's sorrow, when Bialar Crais took him from her. They reunited later but Moya lost him when he sacrificed his life to destroy Scorpius' Command Carrier in "Into the Lion's Den, Part 2: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing". Following Talyn's death, Moya risked her own life to transport him to the sacred Leviathan burial space.

Moya and Pilot are happiest when in service to others. She cares deeply for her crew and sees to their comfort as best she can. They, in turn, do their best to aid Moya when they can as she is their home, their friend, and their only safe harbor.
