Morena Baccarin is an actress best known for her role in Firefly and Serenity as Inara Serra. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 2, 1979 but grew up in New York City with her mother, Vera Setta, also an actress. She attended the Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Performing Arts before moving on to the Julliard School where she acted in several stage productions. She also performed on stage with the Guthrie Theatre Club.
Following graduation from Juliard she began a film career. Her first film was Perfume. She appeared in Way off Broadway and Roger Dodger before landing the role of Inara in the series Firefly. She reprised the role in the film spin-off Serenity. She has also had recurring roles on the series Still Life and The O.C. and voiced the role of Black Canary on Justice League.
In 2006, she played adult Adria, Vala Mal Doran's daughter on the TV Series Stargate SG-1. Rumors have surfaced that she is being considered for the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Joss Whedon film. On the subject she has said: "I’m not going to say no to a superhero but it’s not up to me."
