Mon-El is a fictional superhero and member of the 31st century superhero team, The Legion of Super-Heroes owned by DC Comics.
Mon-El came from the planet Daxam in our century. He had all the powers of Superman, and originally, due to an initial memory loss, thought he might be his brother, another survivor of Krypton's destruction. Found on Monday, the young Kal-El (Kryptonian name of Superman) dubbed him "Mon-El". Unfortunately, while invulnerable to Kryptonite, a Daxamites' one vulnerability was ordinary lead. On Earth he became infected with lead, and had to be placed in the Phantom Zone (where all physical aging and processes stop) until a cure could be found. Unfortunately, this took a thousand years. In the 31st century, Brainiac 5 of the Legion of Super-Heroes was able to cure him with a special serum, and he was finally able to come out of the zone and become a member of the futuristic team.
The origin of Mon-El has changed a lot over the years, as the many different versions and continuities have changed in the DC Comics universe. His powers, lead poisoning, his thousand year stay in the Phantom Zone and his freedom in the Legion's time by Brainiac 5, have remained consistent through all versions.
Mon-El has been linked romantically to fellow Legionnaire Shadow Lass.
