Michelle Pfeiffer (April 29, 1958 Santa Ana, California - ) is an American actor.
The triple-Oscar-nominated actor has included genre work throughout her career. One of her early roles was appearing on the original Fantasy Island (twice), including a turn as the goddess Athena. She appeared in Charlie Chan and the Curse of the Dragon Queen (which had Peter Ustinov playing the detective). By the time of Richard Donner's Ladyhawke (1985), she moved up considerably in billing.
The Witches of Eastwick, Wolf, and What Lies Beneath were all genre fare designed for mainstream success: major stars (Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson) and directors (Mike Nichols, Robert Zemeckis).
However, say "Michelle Pfeiffer" to a sci fi fan, and the first thought is probably of Catwoman. Pfeiffer played the villain in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. While her costume got a lot of press (and made it difficult for her to breathe), Pfeiffer's performance boldly established a new interpretation, considerably different from the screen versions before her.
