Michael Vartan (b. November 27, 1968) is a French-American actor born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France to Bulgarian father Eddie Vartan and Polish-American mother, Doris. Vartan is the nephew of French singer, Sylvie Vartan. Following his parents divorce when Vartan was five, he moved to the United States with his mother. He later moved back to France to be with his father but attended high school in Los Angeles and later studied acting. Vartan made his professional acting debut in the French film Un homme et deux femmes. His first notable American film was the 1996 film The Pall Bearer which starred David Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Vartan starred opposite Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed and also appeared in The Next Best Thing. It Had to Be You, Friends and Ally McBeal. In 2001 Vartan appeared in his first genre role, as Michael Vaughn on the ABC Spy-fi series, Alias. Also in 2001, he appeared in the mini series The Mists of Avalon as Lancelot. Other roles include Monster in-Law with Jennifer Lopez and a guest appearance on Kitchen Confidential which starred Alias actor, Bradley Cooper.
