Michael Ripper (January 27, 1913 - June 28, 2000) Dependable British character actor, in films since the mid-1930s and a staple of Hammer Films for more than a decade playing body-snatchers, innkeepers and policemen in such films as X The Unknown (1956), Quatermass 2 (aka Enemy from Space, 1957), The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958), The Ugly Duckling (1959), The Mummy (1959), The Brides of Dracula (1960), The Anatomist (1961), The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), The Phantom of the Opera (1962), Captain Clegg (aka Night Creatures, 1962), The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964), The Plague of the Zombies (1965), The Mummy's Shroud (1966), The Deadly Bees (1966), Torture Garden (1967), Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968), The Lost Continent (1968), Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970), Mumsy Nanny Sonny and Girly (aka Girly, 1970), Scars of Dracula (1970), The Creeping Flesh (1972) and Legend of the Werewolf (1974). One of his most significant roles is as a superstitious local in The Reptile (1966).
