Michael J. Fox (born Michael Andrew Fox June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) is a Canadian actor and voice artist.
Fox first came to prominence as Alex P. Keaton, the conservative son of liberal parents on the sitcom, Family Ties. In 1985, he had two big genre movie hits, Back to the Future (the first of a trilogy) as time traveling Marty McFly and Teen Wolf, as a basketball-playing werewolf (a "hoop garou," perhaps). Both were successful enough to spawn animated series, although neither involved Fox.
In 1999, Fox starred as the voice of Stuart Little, the talking mouse, in the movie version of the E. B. White book. He has continued to do voice work, including the Disney feature Atlantis: The Lost Empire and The Magic 7 (2008).
Fox has become a public face for Parkinson's Disease, which he has. He has created the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
