Michael Charles Chiklis (b. August 30, 1963) is an Emmy-award winning American actor born in Lowell, Massachusetts to Greek parents. Chiklis is known for his work on the police drama The Commish and The Shield. His highest profile genre feature is the superhero film Fantastic Four and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in which he stars as The Thing.
Chiklis grew up in Andover, Massachusetts and displayed a talent for entertaining early, performing celebrity imitations for his family. He participated in regional theatre productions and began professional acting at 13. He attended Boston University College of Fine Arts where he received his BFA.
Chiklis moved to New York City to establish himself. He struggled to find good roles and made appearances on Miami Vice and B. L. Stryker and was finally being cast as John Belushi in the biopic Wired. The film wasn't successful but his performance nevertheless proved notable. He followed up with recurring roles on Wiseguy and Murphy Brown. Chiklis's genre appearances are few but include guest appearances on Touched by an Angel, and voice roles in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away, Heavy Gear: The Animated Series, The Adventures of Tom Thumb & Thumbelina, Stuart Little, and the 2008 film, The Legend of Secret Pass.
He also portrayed Curly of the Three Stooges in a 2000 TV movie.
