Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. known as MGM is an American media company involved in the production and distribution of film and television programs. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. was founded on April 16, 1924. The company, headquarted in Los Angeles, California, is the owner of the world's largest library of modern films with over 4,000 titles and over 10,400 television episodes. The collection includes some of the most successful film and TV franchises such as James Bond, Rocky and Stargate. MGM is owned by a consortum of investors which includes Sony Corporation of America, Comcast Corporation, Providence Equity Patners, Texas Pacific Group, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and Quadrangle Group.
