Merlin is a 1998 Fantasy film directed by Steve Barron and based on Arthurian myths and legends of the Wizard, Merlin. Sam Neill stars in the title role while other famous characters were taken on by Helena Bonham Carter as Morgan le Fay, Miranda Richardson as Mab and Lady of the Lake, Paul Curran as King Arthur, Jason Done as Mordred, jeremy Sheffield as Sir Lancelot and Lena Headey as Queen Guinevere.

The movie was produced by NBC and Hallmark Entertainment with special effects from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, with whom Steve Barron has worked previously. The story focuses on Merlin from his birth into a magical world converting to Christianity to his council of the young King Arthur and his war against the sorceress, Mab.
