Summary

On a visit to Kelowna, Daniel is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation, when the scientists underestimate the true power of the naquadah derivative, naquadria. While Daniel grows increasingly ill, O'Neill is determined not to let the Kelownans use him as their scapegoat. However, the US government's desire to gain access to the powerful substance makes them wary of offending the Kelownans by accusing their scientists. As Daniel's condition deteriorates, O'Neill attempts to convince Kelownan assistant to the ministry, Jonas Quinn, to do the right thing. Jacob Carter is called in to attempt to save Daniel's life using Goa'uld technology but Daniel receives a higher calling when the ascended being, Oma Desala attempts to guide him to let go of the life he knew and ascend to a higher plane. Daniel struggles to let go but eventually agrees and asks Jack to stop all attempts at saving him, allowing him to become a being of pure energy. Jonas attempts to compensate by defecting to Earth with enough naquadria to help Earth.
