Mel Harris (b. July 12, 1956, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) is an American actress who became known for her role as Hope Murdoch Steadman on thirtysomething. Harris may be best known to genre fans as Oma Desala on the series Stargate SG-1. She has also appeared in The Pagemaster, The Outer Limits, and Touched by an Angel .
