Plot

McKay is called back to Earth after Stargate Command informs him that his estranged sister, Jeannie, a brilliant mathematician turned mother and wife, has written a formula that could solve Atlantis' energy problems. Samantha Carter informs him that their attempts to recruit her have run into a problem as she refuses to sign the non-disclosure agreement. She suggests that he contact her and talk her into signing the agreement.

Shortly after he arrives at her home, the two begin to argue. They haven't spoken in several years as McKay disapproved of her choice to marry and have children rather than pursue a career in science. His attempts to change her mind about the agreement fail and to convince her he has them both transported aboard Odyssey. She is stunned but agrees to visit Atlantis.

The formula she has created would enable them to draw power from another universe. McKay believes that the chances of drawing power from an occupied system is unlikely however, their attempt results in an unforeseen problem. Another Rodney appears in their universe. He informs them that their attempts are damaging his universe and they must work together to stop it.

McKay begins to feel guilty and unwanted as his counterpart is cooler, smoother, gets along with his friends and most importantly his sister. The three manage to devise a plan to undo the damage they did to his counterpart's universe but in the process they drain all the power from their only ZPM. Later, Sheppard, Teyla, and Ronon reveal that they really do prefer him to his counterpart, despite his worries otherwise. Rodney manages to repair his relationship with Jeannie.
