Max Steiner (May 10, 1888 – December 28, 1971) was an Austrian composer who scored more than 300 films in Hollywood and was nominated for an incredible twenty-six Academy Awards, winning three of them. He will always be remembered for his exuberant symphonic score for King Kong (1933), while his other credits include The Monkey’s Paw (1932), The Most Dangerous Game (aka The Hounds of Zaroff, 1932), The Phantom of Crestwood (1932), Secrets of the French Police (1932), Thirteen Women (1932), Son of Kong (1933), Before Dawn (1933), She (1935), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), The Beast with Five Fingers (1946), and Two on a Guillotine (1964).
