Maurice Evans (June 3, 1901 Dorchester, Dorcet, England - March 12, 1989) was a British actor.
A Shakespearean actor with a broad style, Evans brought his theatricality to roles that tended towards overbearing authority figures.
He contributed to several iconic genre productions, including: Planet of the Apes (as Dr. Zaius, the authoritarian orangutan); Bewitched (as Samantha's sympathetic warlock father); and Rosemary's Baby (as Rosemary's friend "Hutch").
He had a recurring role in Ron Ely's Tarzan series, and made guest appearances in a number of other genre series.
Like many other well-known actors of the time, he played a villain (The Puzzler) in the Adam West Batman series.
