Matthew Fox (b. July 14, 1966) is an American actor born in Abington, Pennsylvania to Loretta and Francis Fox. He came to fame as the eldest brother of an orphaned family on the FOX series, Party of Five. He is best known to genre fans as Dr. Jack Shephard on the hit ABC series, Lost.
He is the second of three boys who grew up on the family's horse ranch. He attended the Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts before attending Columbia University and majoring in economics. He also played football. Following his graduation, he intended a career in finance before he was introduced to acting by a girlfriend's mother suggested he try modeling as an alternate career. Not long after, he began appearing in commercials and guest starring on TV series such as Wings.
His genre appearances include the series Haunted, and a voice role in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
In 2008, he portrays Racer X in the live-action version of Speed Racer.
Personal Life
Fox married Margherita Ronchi in 1991 and they have two children, a daughter, Kyle and a son Byron.
