Mary Philbin

Mary Philbin (July 16, 1903May 7, 1993) was an American silent screen actress, a discovery of Erich von Stroheim. She is best remembered for her performance as “Christine Dade”, who revealed Lon Chaney, Sr.’s horrific face to the world in The Phantom of the Opera (1925). She went on to star in The Man Who Laughs (1927) and The Last Performance (1927), but her career ended with the advent of talkies.
