Martin Hayter Short (b. March 26, 1950, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) is an Emmy Award-winning Canadian actor, comedy writer and talk show host known for his comedic roles. Short won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in the Broadway revival of Little Me. He earned a shared Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program for SCTV Network 90 and has been nominated for his own series Primetime Glick and The Martin Short Show and for his performance in the 1998 miniseries Merlin. Among his notable genre roles are Innerspace, Really Weird Tales, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, Alice in Wonderland, The Prince of Egypt, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Treasure Planet, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause and The Spiderwick Chronicles
