Martin H. Greenberg (b. 1918) is said to be the most prolific anthologist in publishing history. He has been credited with the compilation of over a thousand titles, many of which have been in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre’s as well as Mystery, Suspense, and others. He is called the “King of Anthologies”, and Mystery Scene magazine called him “the best mystery anthologist since Ellery Queen.”
His style is to co-edit with another prominent writer or editor to help make selections. He also is known for giving the authors a chance to introduce their own work in his anthology books, something that is becoming a bit of a trademark. He has collaborated on anthologies with famous science fiction writers like Isaac Asimov and Piers Anthony.
He has won the Milford Award for Lifetime Achievement in Science Fiction Editing, received the Ellery Queen award for Lifetime Achievement in Mystery Editing, has been the recipient of two Anthony awards, and was a Guest of Honor at the 1992 World Science Fiction Convention.
He is a professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin, the president of TEKNO books, and a resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
