Martian Rainbow is a 1991 novel by Robert L. Forward. Set on Mars, the novel deals with Martian society which must defend itself from the megalomaniacal plots of the ruthless dictator of Earth. Soon a war breaks out with previously opposing factions united in their goal to free Mars from Earth control. To do so, they must transform the planet into a true home, independent of Earth. They succeed with the aid of the planet's ancient caretakers.
