Mark Robson

Mark Robson (December 4, 1913June 20, 1978) American director and editor. After working (uncredited) with Orson Welles on the perceived flop Citizen Kane (1941), he found himself exiled by RKO Radio Pictures to Val Lewton’s “B” movie unit, where he cut Cat People (1942), I Walked With a Zombie (1943) and The Leopard Man (1943) before being promoted to director for such grim thrillers as The Seventh Victim (1943), The Ghost Ship (1943), Isle of the Dead (1945) and Bedlam (1946). Robson later directed such Hollywood mainstream features as Peyton Place (1957), Valley of the Dolls (1967) and Earthquake (1974).
