Margaret Peterson Haddix (b. April 9, 1964 in Washington Courthouse, Ohio) is a best-selling American author known for her work in fiction for children and young adults. Haddix writes both nongenre fiction as well as stories that incorporate fantasy and science fiction elements. She is known for her Shadow Children book series, set in a future where overpopulation has led to strict population controls.
