Manga

Manga are Japanese Comics. Among the people involved in creating and publishing Manga are Manga Producers, Manga Publishers and Manga Studios. Manga in Japan is competitive with standard literature and is a much larger industry and cultural influence than that of Western comics. Manga are often the inspiration for Anime features and series and precedes the existence of anime.

History

Manga may find its origins in 6th and 7th century calendar scrolls decorated by monks with pictures of various animals given human characteristics. The term manga, was coined in the eighteenth century and artist, Hokusai, used the term to refer to his artistic style which he believed to be unique. Manga style is embodied by simple and efficient use of line.
