Luke Skywalker, a pivotal character in the Star Wars universe, began as a simple farmboy on the backwater desert planet of Tatooine, spending his time toiling on his uncle's moisture farm. Luke was unaware of his legacy as the son of Anakin Skywalker, once a Jedi Knight, and Padme Amidala, the elected Queen of Naboo.
Overview
There is rarely an epic tale that lacks a hero. No matter what the locale: The Aegean Sea, New York City, or A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away . . . There is almost always a savior. In the Star Wars universe, there is no one whose role in the grand scheme of The Force was more pivotal than that of Luke Skywalker.
Lineage
Luke Skywalker comes from a background of turmoil. The son of a former Jedi Knight and a courageous Republic Senator, Luke's genealogy is an embattled and dark one.
History
Luke was born on the medical asteroid Polis Massa, along with his twin sister, Princess Leia. It was decided by Jedi Masters Yoda and Kenobi that the two be split up in order to conceal the location of the children from the Sith Lords Darth Vader and his liege, Emperor Palpatine.
Luke was sent to live with his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru to live on the planet Tatooine. Leia was adopted by Senator Bail Organa and raised on Aldaraan.
The Rebel
Once Luke reached adulthood, he became restless, wanting more than the life of a Moisture Farmer. During that time his Uncle Owen bought two droids: Models C3PO and R2-D2.
These two droids were the bearers of a secret message from Princess Leia to a mysterious man named Ben Kenobi. Luke helped them deliver the message, and unknowingly discovers his past. Ben also known as Obi-Wan, takes Luke to find a ship to rescue the captured princess with.
Obi-Wan employs two smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, to take them to Alderaan aboard their ship The Millenium Falcon.
