Louanne "Kat" Katraine is a fictional character on the reimagined series Battlestar Galactica played by Luciana Carro. Kat is a viper pilot trained by Kara "Starbuck" Thrace.

Kat, whose real name is Sasha, is a former drug runner to the twelve colonies whose flying experience caused her to be selected for Viper flight training to fill the pilot shortage. Though initially washed out by Thrace who feared getting another unqualified pilot killed, Kat later proved to be a brilliant pilot.

Kat acquired her name from a girl who died before the Cylon attacks on the colonies. At the time of the attacks she was working as a drug runner for a man known as Enzo. ("The Passage"). She was one of several thousand survivors of the colonies and following the death of thirteen viper pilots, she was recruited for training alongside Brendan "Hotdog" Costanza and Perry and Stepchild. Both Perry and Stepchild were killed on one of the "nuggets" early missions to steal Tylium from a heavily defended Cylon mining operation. Hotdog and Kat were lauded for their bravery and performance.

Kat eventually earned promotion to Lieutenant but the pressures of service with little hope of relief got to her and she became dependent on stims which made her unstable and caused her to crash her Viper in the landing bay. She was pulled from service but was later reinstated. She took on the duty of CAG when Lee Adama and Kara Thrace were transferred to Battlestar Pegasus. She led Galactica's air group in a standoff against Pegasus and managed to maintain order and prevent a violent conflict.

Kat came into conflict with Starbuck when Starbuck's drinking and behavior became an increasing problem. She was equally frustrated with a skilled Cylon Raider known to them as "Scar". Kat makes a bet with Thrace that she'll be able to destroy the Raider first. Kat continued to point out Starbuck's problems and openly criticized her decision to send a less skilled pilot, Jo-Jo, out when she should have been flying. The dispute caused a physical fight between the two that was broken up by Apollo. The two were later forced to work together to destroy Scar, though Starbuck was reluctant and initially willing to die to destroy the raider. Starbuck allowed Kat to take lead and destroy the raider. In later celebration, Starbuck, allows Kat to take the Top Gun mug. ("Scar")

During a severe food shortage throughout the fleet, in "The Passage" Kat was among viper planets tasked with guiding the fleet through a highly radioactive cluster of stars in order to access the food awaiting on a planet on the other side. Kat was confronted with her past when she runs into Enzo. Starbuck witnessed their argument and angrily confronted Kat and suggested that her illegal activities may have played a part in helping the Cylons infiltrate the colonies. Kat begged Kara not to inform Adama.

She continued to perform runs, guiding ships through the star cluster despite previously receiving a lethal dose of radiation on a previous trip. She disguised this fact by switching her radiation badge with Helo without his knowledge. During a run she lost track of the Faru Sadin and stayed behind until she could relocate the vessel and guide it through., Kat collapsed after landing her severely damaged ship.

Later, while in Galactica's med bay, she was visited by Kara Thrace, who apologized to her for their previous fight. Kara also gave her sleeping pills that would allow her to die painlessly. She was also visited by Admiral Adama who grants her promotion to CAG. Following her death, Kara placed her picture on the Wall of Remembrance.
