Legacy hero

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

A legacy hero is a hero that is the son, daughter, niece, nephew or descendant of the original version of that hero. Sometimes, when a kid sidekick adopts the superhero identity, that can be considered a legacy hero as well. When Wally West, formerly Kid Flash and the Silver Silver Age Flash's nephew became the Flash, he was considered a legacy hero. The Justice Society of America particularly specializes in legacy heroes.

In the case of the Phantom, locals consider the "Ghost Who Walks" to be one immortal entity, when it has actually been an inherited role.

If the inheritor is unaware of his or her predecessor's identity when growing up, the situation can also be one of Discovered Destiny.
