Leela is a character who appeared in Seasons 14 and 15 of the long-running television series Doctor Who. A fierce young warrior of a tribe known as the Sevateem, Leela (played by actress Louise Jameson) encountered the Doctor shortly after the death of her father. Somewhat in awe of this stranger who curiously resembled her tribe's god of evil, Leela aided the Doctor in solving the problems of her troubled world.

Perhaps feeling that there was nothing left for her at home, Leela waylaid the Doctor as he unlocked his TARDIS door to depart the planet and begged to be taken with. When the Doctor refused, she simply ran past him into the TARDIS and started pressing buttons. Audiences heard the Doctor's voice yelling "Don't touch that. Don't touch that" as the TARDIS slowly began to dematerialize...

Leela continued traveling with the Doctor until he returned to his home planet (Gallifrey) in the season fifteen closer "The Invasion of Time." There, she developed an attachment to Andred, the young captain of the guards and chose to stay with him.
