Lee Tamahori (b. June 17, 1950, Wellington, New Zealand) is a filmmaker who has directed such popular films as Die Another Day and xXx: State of the Union. Tamahori, started his career as a commercial artist and photographer before joining the New Zealand film industry in the [[1970s, working as a boom operator and alter an assistant director. He made several award-winning commercials and directed episodes of The Tay Bradbury Theatre. He made his feature film debut with Once Were Warriors and followed up with Mulholland Falls and The Edge.
In 2001, Tamahori directed Monica Potter and Morgan Freeman in Along Came a Spider and, in 2007, directed the film Next starring Nicolas Cage.
